Oculus VR unveiled a storefront for the consumer version of the Oculus Rift on Thursday, allowing players to try and buy games without ever taking off the headset.
During the company's first press conference, Oculus Vice President of
Product Nate Mitchell unveiled Oculus Home, a storefront for gaming
that will activate "as soon as you put on the headset."
Players will also be able to see what other games their friends are playing,
or other titles available in the storefront. Mitchell said they had to
consider the unique problem of how to give users the best experience of
the game they were interested in purchasing.
The shopping cart will function inside the headset, but a 2D option is
also available for anyone who wants to manage Oculus Rift games outside
of VR.
